General information about the degree program
The 1-year's (60 ECTS) double master's programme ‘Joint Studies in Intellectual Property and Data Law’ is established together with our partners at the Université Strasbourg, Queen Mary University of London, the University of Exeter, the Tallinn University of Technology and the Universidad Carols III de Madrid as an Erasmus Mundus Master Programme.
As one of the few Erasmus Mundus Master's programmes in law, the course is funded by the European Commission and the consortium is able to award around 12 full scholarships each year. The students need to study at two different consortium partners during one academic year.
Study contents
The programme offers practice-oriented training in European intellectual property law and data law, particularly in patent, trademark, design, data and copyright law to students from all over the world. While students receive a general and basic education in the individual areas of law in the first semester, in the second semester they have the opportunity to specialise in creative industries law, industrial property law or data law according to their own interests.
The opportunity to study and live in foreign countries and encounter other cultures is an educational challenge that cannot be taught in the classroom. An LL.M. in IP and Data Law at TU Dresden and at one of our partner universities therefore not only offers students the rare opportunity to deepen their knowledge in an increasingly important area of law, but also combines academic excellence with a high degree of internationality. Our students come from approximately 20 different countries per academic year, creating a global working atmosphere while providing constant opportunities to improve social skills and cultural competences.
In addition, our programme facilitates the exchange of ideas and networking between students and academics, lawyers and in-house counsel, all of whom share a passion for intellectual property. The programme has recruited renowned academics and practitioners from across Europe and the rest of the world to share their knowledge and train the next generation of lawyers and policy makers.
