Application hints and tips
If, at the time of application, proof of the first degree qualifying the applicant for a profession is not yet available, the application will be considered under the precondition that 80 % of the credit points attainable for the degree have already been achieved based on completed module examinations or the final thesis and the colloquium (if applicable). A certification from the awarding institute of higher education (examination office) serves as proof of the above-mentioned academic achievements. The certification should also contain a preliminary average grade calculated on the basis of completed graded academic work. You can find the appropriate form on the Admissions Office website.
General information for the degree programme
The consecutive master´s programme in medical radiation sciences is geared towards young natural scientist and engineers with a first academic degree. It aims at educating medical physics experts for the fields of radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and diagnostic radiology, i.e. specialists supporting the medical application of ionising radiation. The programme imparts knowledge in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, technology and medicine.
The specialisation in medical radiation physics has been pioneered by the TU Dresden. It is focused on the therapeutic and diagnostic application of irradiation and contains atomic, nuclear and radiation physics, radiation protection, physical-technical basics of the used devices and methods, mathematical aspects of medical imaging, as well as fundamentals of anatomy and physiology, cell and molecular biology and tumour and radiation biology.
