A tasty smorgasbord of cultural diversity: Dresden’s banquet for everyone (Dresden is(s)t bunt) will take place and TUD can’t wait to get involved
TU Dresden will be setting up ten tables at this year's Dresden is(s)t bunt on September 9, 2024 on the Augustusbrücke and Schlossplatz. A number of other institutions, initiatives, intercultural clubs, neighborhood groups, companies, associations and ministries all invite you to this grand and colorful festival.
As in previous years, a long table will be set up in the middle of the city, at Dresden's historic Schlossplatz and along the Augustusbrücke. Everyone is welcome to take a seat at our tables between 4:00 and 8:00 pm, try different foods from all over the world and get into conversation with one another. There’s a lot to get involved in on the day.
Members of TU Dresden will be there to welcome visitors to our ten different tables. In doing so, we would like to emphasize diversity, dialog and openness, which we believe form the basis for new findings and success in research. These values are also at the heart of our democratic society and characterize a strong sense of community.
Prof. Ursula Staudinger, Rector of TUD, emphasizes: "Open-mindedness, a welcoming culture, a richness of perspectives and a wealth of diversity - this is exactly what the Dresden is(s)t bunt banquet stands for and these values are also essential to the appeal of any science and innovation location. Scientific excellence and the resulting positive economic effects can only be achieved through international cooperation and global exchange. Anyone working against this by means of exclusion, isolation and even racism are jeopardizing the prosperity of all. A recent study published by the German Institute for Economic Research, which reported on the regional economic effectiveness of the internationally oriented University of Excellence TU Dresden, has impressively shown how significantly science, research and transfer contribute to value creation - we are confident that the future state government will continue to honor the great importance of science for the innovative and economic power of the Free State of Saxony. One thing is certain for us: We will remain an open-minded university and stand up for the protection of our democracy. And we will continue to do everything in our power to offer our students, researchers and teaching staff an environment characterized by freedom and respect."
