FOSTER - Funds for Student Research
FOSTER – Funds for Student Research is a program to support student research at TU Dresden.
Students who are interested in research as well as lecturers who are involved in research-oriented teaching should be financially supported and promoted by FOSTER in their planned projects.
Objectives of FOSTER
- Introducing research and academic cultures
- Strengthening interdisciplinarity
- Developing university-wide incentive structures for student research
- Rewarding the commitment of lecturers for student research projects
- Attracting excellent early-career researchers
Projects eligible for funding
The FOSTER program currently has the following funding lines:
- Participation in student research competitions
- Student research activities (e.g. support or organization of conferences, competitions or expos, publication cost subsidies)
- Research-orientated teaching-learning activities (support for formats such as modules, summer schools, tutorials, projects, business games, etc.)
- Participation in conferences and congresses

Application
There are currently no deadlines for applications to FOSTER, i.e. applications can be submitted at any time. All members of TU Dresden are entitled to apply.
For a successful application, please submit:
- Application form (incl. data protection declaration)
- Financial Calculation
- Project plan (if requested amount is > 5,000€)
- Additional documents if necessary
Information on data protection
Note for students: When applying for funds for larger projects, you may need supervision by a lecturer of TU Dresden.
Upon completion of a funded project, a final report must be submitted.
