Teaching Award for innovative student-designed teaching and learning 2023
The Association of Friends and Sponsors of Technische Universität Dresden (GFF) is calling for nominations for a teaching award honoring teaching and learning at TU Dresden that has been conceptualized by student groups and initiatives in the 2022/2023 academic year. The total amount of prize money to be awarded is EUR 5,000.
The award is conferred for:
- courses developed by students or joint student projects that are integrated into TUD's program in the long term
- outstanding student involvement in teaching activities
- particularly innovative/creative/participative teaching designed by students
- outstanding student involvement in projects with school children

We strive to achieve excellence together – motivating students and equipping them to become outstandingly qualified TU Dresden graduates. Innovative teaching and examination methods – both on-site and online – are key to this process. Once again, we would like to honor the exceptional commitment to teaching at TUD in education and training with the Teaching Awards of the Association of Friends and Sponsors of Technische Universität Dresden.

The total amount of prize money to be awarded is EUR 30,000. Each of the Faculties and Central Units that offer degree programs will potentially have the chance to receive a teaching award, provided they submit an application.

The objective is to acknowledge teaching and learning concepts of 2022/2023 that address the topics of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning or AI-based language models from a multitude of perspectives or use these didactically in various teaching, learning and research scenarios.
We seek formats that explore
- the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence - or -
- their application and the interdependencies with science and the real world - or -
- the resulting societal implications from utilizing Artificial Intelligence - or -
- the resulting societal discourse - or -
- the use of Artificial Intelligence as a cognitive tool or didactic aid in university teaching - or -
- use AI to facilitate individual learning or to overcome barriers - or -
- impart skills to use AI in student research.
All teaching formats that creatively prepare content and teach it in a forward-looking way are eligible to be nominated. -
Important details:
- Members of all groups at TU Dresden are eligible to submit nominations.
- The award can be conferred to individuals or groups of individuals.
- The prize money is earmarked for the continued development, permanent establishment, and expansion of student teaching.
