Complaints Process
The Complaints Office is responsible for official complaint procedures. Its role is to review complaints impartially and, based on that review, to propose measures and sanctions to supervisors or university administration to protect against (the recurrence of) discrimination, harassment, and violence. The Complaints Office, which handles incidents of harassment, discrimination, and violence, thus serves as a supportive component of TU Dresden’s compliance management system.
Before filing an official complaint, those affected should seek appropriate advice regarding the various options for addressing the issue. An overview of counseling options can be found here. Counselors can provide support throughout the complaint process.
Employees and students of TU Dresden may file a complaint by mail, email, or in person on campus. The complainant will then be informed about the complaint procedure, their associated rights, and, if applicable, further counseling options.
The Complaints Office operates on the principle of confidentiality, which is waived only to the extent necessary for the complaint process.
The Complaints Office ultimately reviews the complaint from multiple perspectives by hearing from all parties involved, reviewing available evidence, and conducting research and consulting with experts. The resulting assessment of the complaint is communicated to the complainant. It is ensured that the complainant does not suffer any disadvantages as a result of the complaint.
Reports of harassing, discriminatory, or violent behavior can also be submitted anonymously using the digital reporting system. Whether a multi-perspective, fair complaint procedure can be initiated in such cases must be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
If, based on the described incidents, labor or disciplinary measures may be considered, the complaint is forwarded to the Directorate Personnel. In the event that measures against students must be considered, the Complaints Office will forward the complaint to the offices responsible for imposing sanctions on students.
Even before submitting an official complaint, you may contact the Complaints Office—even anonymously—to seek advice on the appropriate course of action. This may involve referral to appropriate counseling services or the initiation of an official complaint procedure.
Here you will find information on the data protection regulations (PDF file)regarding the complaint procedure.
Important: If you need assistance with the complaint process due to language or other barriers, please do not hesitate to let us know.
