Complaints Process
The complaints office is responsible for official complaints procedures. It is its task to investigate complaints neutrally and, based on this, to propose measures and sanctions to the superiors or the university management to prevent (the repetition of) discrimination, harassment and violence. The complaints office for incidents of harassment, discrimination and violence is thus a supporting element in the TU Dresden's compliance management system.
Before filing an official complaint, victims should seek appropriate counselling regarding the various options for dealing with the matter. An overview of counselling options can be found here. Counsellors can accompany in the complaint process.
A complaint can be made by employees and students of TU Dresden by post, e-mail or in person. The person making the complaint will then be informed about the complaint procedure, their corresponding rights and, if necessary, about further counselling options.
In principle, the complaints office acts under the premise of confidentiality, which is only suspended to the extent necessary for a complaints procedure.
The complaints office investigates the complaint from multiple perspectives by hearing all parties involved, reviewing the available evidence and by researching and exchanging information with experts. The final evaluation of the complaint is communicated to the complainant. It is ensured that the complainant does not suffer any disadvantages as a result of the complaint.
You can register concerns of misconduct or non-compliance via the digital TUD BKMS® notification system. The extent to which a multi-perspective, fair complaints procedure can be initiated for this must be considered on a case-by-case basis.
If employment/disciplinary measures can be considered due to the incidents described, the complaint will be passed on to the Directorate 2 (Personal). In the case that measures against students need to be considered, the Complaints Office will transfer the complaint to the offices responsible for implementing sanctions against students.
Even before an official complaint is forwarded, you can contact the Complaints Office, even anonymously, for advice on an appropriate course of action. This can be a referral to adequate counselling services or the initiation of an official complaint procedure.
Information on the data protection regulations (PDF file) regarding the complaints process is available here.
Important: If you need assistance in the complaint process due to language or other barriers, do not hesitate to report them back to us.
