Special funds inclusion
About the Special funds
Since 2015, the Saxon State Ministry for Science and the Arts (SMWK) has earmarked several million euros earmarked as an additional budget to finance inclusion measures to the universities in Saxony.
The Action Plan of the Saxon State Government for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2016) stipulates the continuous continuation of this support amounting to 2 million euros per year. Also in the current budget 2019/2020, decided in December 2022 the special funds are detained.
Use of funds
The previously approved measures and projects were aimed at employees, (prospective) students and represent important measures for the promotion of the inclusion of people with disabilities and chronic diseases at the TU Dresden. A selection of the supported projects and investments can be found in the image slider box with text. These include mobility-enhancing measures, the expansion of individual service and support offerings, and measures to develop barrier-free working and study conditions.
Procedure of the TU Dresden
In a broad participatory process, the Unit Diversity Management has always informed the stakeholders at university about the receipt of special funds and invited them to describe their concrete proposals for measures and projects in detail.
In addition to the targeted implementation of the Action Plan of the TU Dresden on the implementation of the UN CRPD, the content-related framework shall also include further measures that fit into the objectives of the UN-BRK and the recommendations of the German Rectors' Conference 2009 "Eine Hochschule für Alle". Additional criteria is the proof of sustainability of the projects and measures and, if necessary, a detailed implementation concept.
The submitted applications will be discussed and evaluated by the Advisory Board Inclusion regarding the specified criteria and submitted to the Rectorate. The applications approved and funded by the Rectorate are then coordinated and accompanied by the Unit Diversity Management.
Already in 2016, the Rectorate decided to act in a forward-looking manner and approved in advance key measures for further years, which shall be realized independently of a detailed funding by the SMWK at the TU Dresden, but still eligible for funding in the case of billable funding.
