Scope of Service

Backup

• Data loss, via hardware failure or operating error, is compensated through the recovery of data from the backup

Intermediate Archive

• Long-term storage of project data worthy of being archived (during project running time)
• Data storage in many copies

Long-Term Archiving

• Safe, long-term storage of data worthy of being archived 
• Data storage in many copies

Options

Backup

• Backup times and cycles selectable in consultation (for example storage weekly or twice daily)
• Adjustable storage time of data
• Expansion of capacity for external clients by application

  Members of the TU Dresden
• Application through this Form

Intermediate Archive

• Authorized users:
  Users of the high performance computer

Long-Term Archiving

• Authorized users:
  Members of the TUD
• Application via the Service Desk

Backup

• Internet access / Campus network must be sufficiently fast
• Acknowledgement and compliance with the rules for participation in the backup

Intermediate Archive

• HPC project application
• Access to HPC Resources
• User rules like those for the backup
• Please note the special indications for the data

Long-Term Archiving

• Access with ZIH-Login
• User rules have to be confirm at login
• Advice by Kontaktstelle Forschungsdatenrecommended (e.g. on data formats for archiving or packing of data)
