Software
Overview about the software components
The WisNetGrid software is modular in a way which allows the usage of individual components independent of other parts of the architecture, e.g. the components from the data access layer can be deployed independent from components of the knowledge extraction (WP2) or the service management (WP3). This allows the further development of individual components in other projects or the usage in a different context. As described in the description about the general architecture, all components can be connected to a joint architecture and allow the modelling of a knowledge space. The configuration of the components to realize this joint architecture can be found in the documentations delivered by the individual software components.
Hints for Installation
To setup the WisNetGrid architecture it is suggested to start with the components from the data access layer. The individual software components for this part can be downloaded from the table below. This packages does not contain specific storage systems, but provide connectors to a rather broad list of different storage components. These connectors are provided by the resource federation package. Furthermore, a package for a demonstration portal is also included which acts as a blueprint to show the integration of different components into a common architecture. In principle, the components can be integrated in other portal-based structures (such as Science Gateways). In the demonstration portal the components of the WisNetGrid components from the knowledge and service management layer can be included for unified usage.
WisNetGrid Components of the Knowledge Management
The components of the knowledge management can be downloaded from the homepage of the partner Max-Planck-Institut Informatik. This includes the source code and documentation of the components
- federated search with keywords and knowledge (structured information)
- extraction of knowledge with graphical user interface (workbench)
WisNetGrid Components of the Service Layer
The components of the service layer are based on a semantic service description language, which allows to include user feedback in the creation and orchestration of services and workflows within a modelling tool. This way, a (semi) automatic method taking user input into account to concatenate services to workflows is provided. An installation description and the source code can be obtained from this documentation page.
