First Doctoral Training Program SPP 2388 - Hundred plus (SPP 100+)
From April 12 to 14, the first doctoral training of the priority program took place in Braunschweig. About 25 PhD students from all 20 projects participated in the PhD advanced training.
On the first day, the training started at 12:20 p.m. with a warm welcome by Univ. Prof. Dr. sc. techn. Klaus Thiele and an introduction to the training by Dr.-Ing. Julian Unglaub. This was followed by three lectures on modeling by Jun. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Henning Wessels, Jun. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Römer and Prof. Dr. Jakob Beetz. The first training day ended successfully with a Startup Research Lounge and a barbecue at the Architecture Pavilion of the TU Braunschweig.
The second day (April 13, 2023) of the advanced training started with two more lectures on modeling by Maximilian Kellner and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volker Slowik. This was followed by an excursion to Salzgitter AG with a tour of the steel plate production processes and a laboratory tour of the Institute of Steel Construction at TU Braunschweig. In the evening, participants had the opportunity to experience VR at the VirtuaLounge in Braunschweig.
On the last day (April 14, 2023), the training started with a presentation on soft skills/publication. Afterwards, the coordination team and the five clusters gave short presentations on the status of their work. Finally, the three-day PhD training ended at 3 p.m. after productive discussions in each cluster about their work plans and with farewell remarks by Dr.-Ing. Chongjie Kang and Dr.-Ing. Julian Unglaub.
