Promotion Juliane Wagner
On 10.12.2021, Juliane Wagner successfully defended her scientific thesis within the framework of the doctoral procedure with the topic "On the load-bearing behaviour of carbon concrete under fatigue loading".
The number of bridges made of textile or carbon concrete is growing steadily and the question of a safe fatigue design of carbon concrete is becoming all the more urgent. The mere introduction of reduction factors as resistance to fatigue loading is not an option here. For an economic design of carbon concrete under tension-swell loading, a material-appropriate design concept is necessary, which first requires an extensive investigation of the material behaviour under fatigue loading. The present work makes an essential contribution to this. First, the state of knowledge relevant to the investigations carried out is summarised. Then extensive fatigue tests are presented, which were carried out on two different, commercially available material combinations. Both the tensile and the composite composite load-bearing behaviour of carbon concrete under tension-swell loading. In addition to the achievable number of cycles and the residual load-bearing capacity of continuous beams, the stress-strain and deformation behaviour, the change in the shape of the hysteresis loops, the specimen strains and deformations and the specimen stiffnesses during fatigue loading were also investigated. Based on the results of the investigations, a proposal for a design concept for carbon concrete under tension-swell loading is finally compiled.
is compiled.
The results obtained in the present work thus contribute to obtaining a basic understanding of the material behaviour of carbon concrete under fatigue loading and to carrying out the fatigue design for the materials investigated. The transferability of the results to other material combinations is to be checked in further investigations.
be examined.
In addition to the chairman of the doctoral committee, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Ivo Herle (TU Dresden), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Manfred Curbach (TU Dresden) and Dr. Jörg Schmidt (Gesellschaft für Materialforschung und Prüdungsanstalt für das Bauwesen Leipzig mbH) were present as reviewers. Prof. Dr. Jens Otto (TU Dresden) was also present as a member of the doctoral committee.
Prof. Dr. Johann Kolleger (Vienna University of Technology) was also present via video conference.
We warmly congratulate Juliane Wagner on completing her doctorate and wish her all the best and much success for her future.
