The Institute of Concrete Structures (IMB) at the TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) has been teaching for over 100 years. Today, four Chairs belong to the Institute. The topics in teaching and research range from concrete and steel or carbon-reinforced concrete in all its facets in experiment and simulation, to sustainability and resource efficiency in connection with building in existing structures, the reinforcement of supporting structures, supporting structures for onshore and offshore wind turbines, railroad bridges for high-speed traffic and structural monitoring. Numerous practice partners enrich the teaching program. Together, research results are transferred into real construction projects at the IMB. The TUD stands for a university culture that is characterized by cosmopolitanism, appreciation, innovative spirit and participation. It understands diversity as a cultural matter of course and a quality criterion of a University of Excellence. Accordingly, we welcome all applicants who would like to contribute their performance and personality to us and to the success of all of us. Subject to project approval, job advertisement(s) or job offer(s) can then be found here or on the corresponding university-wide website.
We would like to encourage you to send us an unsolicited application now.
scient. Research assistant/ doctoral student (m/f/d)
At the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Institute of Concrete Structures, 3 subprojects of the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio (SFB/TRR) 280 are each seeking to fill a position as a research assistant / doctoral candidate (m/f/d) at the earliest possible date. Research Associate / Doctoral student (m/f/d) (if the personal requirements are met E 13 TV-L) until 30.06.2028 (duration of employment according to WissZeitVG) with the aim of own scientific qualification (i.e. further qualification). Further qualification (usually doctorate).
The project: The SFB/TRR 280 researches design strategies for material-minimized carbon concrete structures. In interdisciplinary cooperation with researchers from civil engineering, mechanical engineering, botany, algebra and other departments, construction principles are being researched and developed that enable material-friendly, resource-saving and sustainable structures with carbon concrete. Experimental and numerical investigations are used to research the load-bearing behavior of new types of structures. In three sub-projects, the design principles of
- interpenetrating inner shell-like substructures (C01: Dr.-Ing. Silke Scheerer),
- chemically prestressed carbon concrete structures (C06: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Steffen Marx) and
- grid-like structures made of carbon concrete disks (C08: apl. Prof. Dr.-Ing. B. Beckmann)
are being researched. There is a close exchange between the researchers at TUD and RWTH Aachen University as well as with other project partners.
Tasks: scient. Research activities in the field of design development of carbon reinforced concrete load-bearing structures; planning, execution and analysis of experimental investigations; description and modeling of load-bearing behavior and development of engineering models; review of current literature; publication and presentation of research results in scientific journals and at conferences. The area of responsibility also includes the project-related supervision of student projects and theses (Diploma and Master).
Prerequisites: wiss. University degree in the Department of Civil Engineering (focus on structural engineering) or comparable with above-average academic performance; in-depth interest in load-bearing structures and experimental, numerical and analytical research; willingness to do a doctorate; interest in interdisciplinary cooperation; willingness to exchange ideas with the project partners from Aachen, Hamburg and Dresden; reliability and a high degree of initiative; good organizational skills and an independent and conscientious way of working; ability to work in a team and communicate; very good knowledge and ability to express oneself in German and English; familiarity with standard professional technology and software.
The TUD aims to increase the proportion of women and therefore expressly invites applications from women. The university is a certified family-friendly university and has a dual career service. Applications from severely disabled people are particularly welcome. In the case of equal suitability, these persons or persons with equal status by law (SGB IX) will be given preference.
Please send your detailed application with the usual documents, quoting the advertisement number "w24-245", by 29.07.2024 (the postmark of the Central Post Office or the time stamp on the TUD e-mail server applies) to: TU Dresden, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Institute of Concrete Structures, Prof. Steffen Marx, Helmholtzstr. 10, 01069Dresden or via the SecureMail portal of TUD https://securemail.tu-dresden.de in a PDF document to concrete@tu-dresden.de.
