CULTWOOD - at the international CollectionCare conference in Valencia Spain from 1.-3. December 2021 online

Flyer of Conference
Project
Numerical analysis tool for the simulation and risk estimation of climatic and mechanical loaded works of art made of wood
Research topics
- validation of partial models to describe the short- and long-term behaviour of wood by experiments for investigating individual phenomena
- determination of mechanical and hygric properties of surface coatings of exemplary objects
- joining the partial models to an overall model
- validation of the overall model by replica of a panel painting by L. Cranach the Elder (Altar of Saint Catherine, left wing, inner side) and of a historical cupboard
- if necessary the adaption of methods and adjustment of the used material parameters
- application: simulate original works of art in characteristic/critical scenarios
- goal: prohibition of damage and resource-saving, efficient air conditioning in exhibition- and storerooms
