UNU Hub on Climate Resilience and Sustainable Technologies - CREST

TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) and the United Nations University signed a cooperation agreement on April 8, 2025 to establish the UNU Hub Climate Resilience and Sustainable Technologies (CREST).

Strategic focus

The new hub will combine the interdisciplinary expertise of TUD and UNU-FLORES to address global climate challenges by integrating engineering and environmental sciences as well as socio-economic analysis. With this goal in mind, CREST will develop scalable technologies for climate adaptation and sustainable innovation. The hub will be active in the areas of activity of education, research and knowledge transfer.

The UNU Hub CREST is aligned with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contributes to their implementation - among others:

CREST's unique interdisciplinary approach combines the key areas of climate adaptation and governance as well as technology and innovation for sustainability. In this context, the three core elements - education, research and transfer - are strategically used to build a bridge between science, policy and practice.

nature-based solutions and green infrastructure, e.g., water retention through wetlands and permeable pavements

Indo-German Joint Master Program on Water Security and Global Change
