RESEARCH FOCUSES
- Planning of the (en-route) mainline-traffic Trajectory Management:
Flight performance anaylsis and modeling in context with variable objective functions like fuel minimization, noise abatement, emission minimization, punctuality, speed. Analysis of the navigations performance (ANP) of aircrafts (project radar analysis) - Support of ground handling at airports
Analysis of the turnaround management of aircrafts under certain fringe conditions (hub / non-hub). Statistically modeling of the process chain, conception of A-CDM Decision Support Systems (Tournaround Management) - Airport Terminal Operations:
Development of evaluation methods for usage of complex buildings like terminals. Development of hybrid simulations of individuals with personality characteristics in buildings in context with functional processes with specified focus on security processes (project terminal simulation), optimization of guidance (projects: video analysis Airport Dresden, signage Airport Dresden) - Admission of ATM systems:
Implementation of safety analysis observing juridical guidelines for readout systems onboard (projects: WFF, InteCo), of aircrafts and for flight controller applications (project iPort) - Simulation technology:
Continual advancement of an ATM real time simulation laboratory, composed of workstations of flight controllers and pseudo pilots, Airbus A320 FMS flight simulator and traffic generator with focus on Trajectory Management, ground rolling traffic researches, innovative operational concepts (virtual tower iPort, S-MAN concepts, Datalink applications, project WFF). - Airport planning:
Flight performance analysis during takeoff and landing: optimization of runway length and obstacle situation with respect to juridical guidelines - Safety in air traffic:
Development of quantitative methods of risk analysis for sectors near the airport (projects: quantitative safety evaluations, extern risks, review and development of aeronautical studies - Communication of knowledge - transfer of expertise in information systems for publicity and politics (project FIS)
