Lighting as part of the traffic infrastructure associated especially with vision, safety and security
The lighting laboratory works on an inderdisciplinary subject area concerning light and lighting technology, vision and seeing in night time traffic situations, behaviour and safety / security.

areas of activity
- visual perception and discrimination ability in night time situations and reconstruction of accidents in the darkness with focus on vision and lighting technology
- stationary traffic lighting (street lighting, tunnel lighting, reflection properties of road surfaces), quality criteria concerned and measurements of them
- optical signals in traffic and light-related characteristics of traffic signs
- vision-related aspects of accessibility and usability
We have been teaching and researching for more than five decades.
Teachings involve lectures, practicals in the lab and outside as well as contributions in courses hosted by other departments of TU Dresden.
