We investigate how societies and individuals can respond to profound changes such as climate change, demographic change and urbanization. The research group focuses on the role of digital tools in the participatory shaping of social change and the support of individual transformation in order to promote sustainable development. We are concerned with the emergence and development of communities in virtual learning spaces through the use of social VR and interactive 3D technologies. Technology-based development and communication of cultural heritage

We are dedicated to the digitization and visualization of cultural heritage that is destroyed, threatened or difficult to access in order to make it researchable. Through the use of digital technologies and methods as well as interdisciplinary collaboration, the research group aims to preserve and communicate knowledge and involve the general public through citizen science approaches. Lernprozesse und Lernkulturen in der digitalen Transformation

We are looking at the impact of digital transformation on learning and teaching processes and on educational organizations in order to understand how new technologies such as AI and digital platforms are changing these areas. The research group analyzes what skills are needed for the future and how (learning) cultures need to adapt in order to successfully shape change. Learn more

Participatory research and technology development

We investigate how participatory approaches in research and technology development can be designed to find inclusive, sustainable solutions to societal and technological challenges. The research group emphasizes the importance of involving different stakeholders in order to promote acceptance and democratic co-design in the development of new technologies. Learn more

As a research center, we are interested in how digital media and tools can be used for teaching, learning and research, and how their use changes the world of work and everyday life. With over 70 employees, we conduct interdisciplinary research into digital media and tools and develop suitable concepts, educational programs and digital applications. We set and pursue research and development topics both independently and in alliances with partners from TU Dresden, the whole of Germany and 15 countries worldwide.

We organize our work in thematic research groups. Open discourse is important to us, which is why we communicate through various channels: We publish papers for various target groups, run a blog "Digital for all", among other things, and organize thematically focused events. Our projects are financed by various funding bodies.
