Welcome to CIDS
Digitalization takes place across the entire campus. With the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS), a central hub has been established where research, development, and services on all aspects of digital sciences come together.
By integrating eight departments and thematic clusters, CIDS brings together the expertise of more than 500 staff members from all faculties. Together, they address scientific challenges in high-performance computing, data management, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence, knowledge transfer, digital media in teaching, social interaction, and many other aspects of digitalization.
Organization of the CIDS
Through the organizational and spatial integration of ICT-oriented research, development, and services, CIDS enables scientists and technical experts to collaborate more efficiently and effectively.
The organizational structure of CIDS consists of departments that conduct interdisciplinary research on key topics in digitalization. All participating professorships are anchored within the faculties of TU Dresden.
In addition to the departments, thematic clusters and service units complement the structure of CIDS — such as the Support Center Digitalisierung (SCD), the Interactive Science Lab (ISL), and other shared facilities that provide consulting, services, and spaces for interactive and participatory research and science communication.
CIDS is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the Free State of Saxony as part of the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Government
