Prof. Dr. Michael Schroeder
Prof Dr. Michael Schroeder is a professor in bioinformatics at TU Dresden.
He is interested in machine learning algorithms applied to structure and sequence data
to improve diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases and cancer. He holds a degree
in computer science from RWTH Aachen and a PhD from University of Hannover. During his PhD he was a guest researcher at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Prior to
joining TU Dresden in 2003 he was a lecturer and senior lecturer at City University London. He has published over 230 scientific papers and holds two granted patents. His Hirsch index on Google scholar is over 45. He supervised over 25 PhDs, of which 10 obtained a distinction. Eight former group members are now professors or groupleaders. He served on the advisory board of the Gene Ontology. He co-founded pharm.ai, who focus on structure-based drug-target prediction and Transinsight GmbH, who developed GoPubMed, a semantic biomedical search engine.
