GeNeMe 2023: Self-determined participation in the digital transformation
The annual GeNeMe conference „Communities in New Media“ discusses online communities from an integral perspective on several disciplines such as computer science, media technology, business and economics, education and information science, and social and communication science. As a forum for transdisciplinary dialogue, GeNeMe facilitates the exchange of experience and knowledge between participants from a wide range of disciplines, organizations, and institutions, focusing on research and practice.
GeNeMe 2023 takes place from September 13-15 and opens up the discussion around issues of inclusion and participation in the context of digital formats and innovations. On February 06, 2023, the Empirical Status Conference on Digitization in Education and Society will be hosted in the virtual immersive 3D conference environment of TriCAT spaces Congress. The conference is organized in the scope of the BMBF-funded research project "Examining the Connection of Virtual Immersive 3D Learning Platforms to the NBP by Means of a Sample Case of an Education Provider (AVILAB2)" in cooperation with the Center of Open Digital Innovation and Participation (CODIP) of the TU Dresden and the structured graduate program "Education and Technology".
World Usability Day
Everyday things accompany us at every turn; we usually take objects, applications and their handling for granted. But why are we able to handle them intuitively? And how user-oriented is their development?
These questions are the focus of World Usability Day, a worldwide day of action dedicated to the effects of design on our living environment. Unlike usual, there will be no Dresden's own WUD this year. You can read about what we have planned instead here:
E-teaching Day 2022
The 5th E-Teaching Day is themed "digital Lehren _ Digitales lehren". We will be talking to you about: digital competences of students and teachers, employability in a digitalised professional world and conclusions for teaching and learning processes. These and other questions on the topic of digital university teaching will be discussed on 24.11.22 at what is now the fifth E-Teaching Day.

With digital camera, green screen, smartphone & virtual reality: experience teaching of the future at first hand
At the Long Night of the Sciences on 08.07.22 we will be presenting our Technology Enhanced Teaching Labs (TET-Lab) from 17:00-00:00, where (future) digital usage scenarios in the area of lesson design and teaching are to be tested. In the TET Labs, media production in the area of audio and video as well as testing how digital media can support everyday school and teaching life in the future is possible. In the mini-lab in the HSC, we show our work using the example of green screen, VR glasses and co. and demonstrate how these can be used productively and excitingly in a teaching scenario.
Educational Equity in Digital Game Worlds
Digital Game Worlds are becoming increasingly present in our society. Video games open up a rich world of experiences that facilitate the expansion of our skills, support the celebration of our successes, and allow us to fail without consequences. The educational sector has also been benefiting from such game worlds. But does education also become more equitable through games? Due to the COVID pandemic, a digitalization push has taken place in all education areas that threaten to exacerbate existing inequalities. Can easily accessible digital learning games provide a remedy? These are the questions that the international joint project “EU-FairPlay” is exploring during several events at various European locations. The project starts with an online kick-off event on the 12th and 13th of May 2022. The event is online and free of charge.
