Excellence Initiative

As part of the 2nd phase (2012-2017) of the Excellence Initiative Programme launched by the German federal and state governments, the TUD was successful with its entire application package. This was composed of:

1st line of funding: Graduate School:

• "Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering" (DIGS-BB)

2nd line of funding: Cluster of Excellence:

• "Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden" (cfaed)
• "Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden" (CRTD)

3rd line of funding: Institutional Strategie:

• "The Synergetic University"

Excellence Strategy

The "Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft" (DFG) and the German Council of Science and Humanities are implementing the Excellence Strategy (ExStra) in two funding lines:

1. Clusters of Excellence (EXC) (Funding 2019 - 2025)

• CeTI: Centre for Tactile Internet
• ct.qmat: Complexity and Topology in Quantum Materials
• PoL: Physics of Life

2. Universities of Excellence (EXU)

• With its application "TUD 2028 - Synergy and Beyond", the TUD was able to convince and continues to belong to the top group of German universities.
