Guidelines for the awarding of grants from the Digital Learning and Teaching Fund (DLL Fund) by the TDL GSW
Under the following link you will find all guidelines for the funding as PDF (only in German).
Background
Each Digital Teaching Team (TDL) has access to funding of EUR 10,000 from the Learning and Teaching Fund for digital or digitally supported teaching development. The following describes the department-specific framework conditions, award criteria and streamlined procedures.
From June 16, 2025, the funds will be allocated via the Digital Teaching Teams of the departments.
Basic principles of awarding
- Unbureaucratic access: Funding can be accessed immediately after the call for proposals. Teachers can contact the Digital Teaching team of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (TDL GSW) at any time with ideas and suggestions in a low-threshold, informal manner.
- Flexibility: The funds can be used in an uncomplicated manner to address the opportunities and challenges of digital teaching in a targeted manner. There is no active deadline for submission.
- Promotion of innovation and practice: Both experimental approaches and best practices are supported.
Award criteria
The criteria are based on the overarching objectives of the DLL fund and the support of digital and digitally supported teaching:
Relevance to teaching:
- Contributions to the improvement of teaching, e.g. through innovative didactic concepts or the support of best practice.
- Direct contributions to support current teaching, e.g. through the use of digital tools or through the development and expansion of digital skills.
Feasibility:
- Plans, projects and contributions must be feasible within the available resources - both in terms of time and funding.
Support for teaching staff:
- Direct relief and support for teaching staff, e.g. by providing support staff or technical infrastructures that effectively support active learning. Technical implementation projects that are to be funded in addition to the digital infrastructure available at the TUD require a comprehensible, plausible justification
Flexibility and needs-based approach:
- The allocation of funds from the DLL fund is demand-oriented and flexible in order to be able to respond to current requests from lecturers.
Subject-specific focus and cooperation:
- Applications must originate from members of the faculties in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences(Faculty of Education; Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies).
- Cross-faculty and cross-departmental projects are expressly encouraged, especially those that promote interdisciplinary approaches and exchange between different disciplines.
Course of the procedure
- Publication of the call for proposals on May 30, 2025
- The call for proposals will be distributed via the channels of the TDL GSW and the DLL fund.
- Reactive funding:
- Teachers approach the TDL GSW directly with their ideas with an informal application. A personal preliminary discussion is possible, but not necessary. The application is sent by e-mail to the TDL GSW(). More on the structure of the application below.
- The TDL GSW examines the proposals at short notice on the basis of the award criteria and decides on funding. Decisions are made according to a priority principle based on the time of receipt, among other things.
- Feedback and documentation:
- Expenditures are documented by the persons responsible for the funded project and coordinated directly with the Center for Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching (ZiLL).
- Results and experiences are incorporated into the further development of the awarding process.
- Funded projects are presented on the TDL GSW website after completion.
- Funds not spent after the end of the funding period are not available beyond this period.
- Funding period
- The funding period ends on December 31, 2025. Please note the deadlines set by the TUD in the context of spending, e.g. circulars on deadlines for the annual financial statements/implementation of the budget.
Application
- The application for funding is sent informally by e-mail to the TDL GSW() and does not require any forms.
- Applications can be submitted in German or English.
- The application must state:
- Who is applying for the funding? Applications can only be submitted by lecturers in the faculties of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Who is the specific contact person?
- What is to be funded? A brief description of the project/proposal in a few sentences (max. 1500 characters), including the intended benefits for the (further) development of digital teaching.
- A cost calculation taking into account the maximum funding amount: The maximum funding per application is EUR 5,000.
Funding conditions
- All lecturers of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at TU Dresden who are officially entrusted with the implementation of a course are eligible to apply. This explicitly includes students who take on a teaching role (e.g. tutors).
- Subject to the provision of funds, funding begins as soon as possible after the application is submitted and ends on December 31, 2025. Shorter terms with a flexible start date are possible.
- Parallel developments to existing central IT infrastructure systems and services at TU Dresden are not eligible for funding. Basic equipment cannot be financed within the scope of this funding, including the complete standard equipment for workstations. The funding of construction measures, repairs and maintenance work is also excluded.
- Personnel and material costs can be claimed. The funds may only be used for the purpose stated in the application and for the period applied for.
- Hospitality costs and purchases are only possible within the guidelines applicable at TU Dresden:
- Publication of the experiences and results by those responsible for the project is expressly desired.
- Projects already funded elsewhere can also be extended by the DLL fund of the TDL GSW. Multiple funding/extension of the same funding object by the DLL fund is not possible.
- A subsequent increase in the funding amount is excluded.
- There is no legal entitlement to funding.
