Between gaining knowledge and shaping practice
The research focus is on the analysis and (vocational) didactic design of vocational education processes at the various qualification levels and at all learning venues. This requires consideration of the complex relationships between vocational work (as an object of appropriation) and teaching and learning on an individualised, institutionalised and social level.
In the context of general education, the living environment becomes the object of appropriation, which is to be explored from a chemical, but also interdisciplinary perspective at the various places of learning. The teaching and learning concepts suitable for this are to be developed and evaluated.
Fields of research
The examination of the above-mentioned complex relations and the tangential objects requires an interdisciplinary approach and a selection of methods appropriate to the subject matter and in combination.
The Chair's current core research areas are
- Target group-oriented development and design of knowledge-supporting tools
(CoforVE) - The potential of differentiating objectives, content and methods for designing individualized learning (dealing with heterogeneity in vocational teaching and learning)
- Context-related and interdisciplinary learning with the inclusion of various (also extracurricular) learning locations(Sylber learning landscapes, LernlaborFarbe, TransRisk)
- Digitalization of the world of work and education(ChemNet)
