Intro
The Institute of Media and Communication is located on the campus of the TU Dresden, across from the SLUB (Saxon State and University Library Dresden). Its offices sit high up with a wide view of the city. But in contrast, the institute wants to be in the thick of things with its research: It provides our society with applied and relevant findings through many routes, not just keeping them in the ivory tower.
About the Institute
The Institute of Media and Communication at TU Dresden devotes its research and teaching to the phenomena of media-mediated public communication. In its research, it applies empirical social science methods that lead to reliable and generalizable statements. Both in the selection of research topics and in teaching, it focuses on socially relevant and practical issues of media communication.
Research results and teaching content should serve to realize central communication policy and ethical values. Foremost among these is the communicative self-determination of citizens, which is achieved through objective, impartial, and competent media reporting. The Institute of Media and Communication uniquely offers its expertise to regional organizations and companies. It prepares its findings in a manner designed to have the broadest possible impact on society.
