#37 survival training
We live in difficult times. First a pandemic, then war - many people are affected. More and more people are taking part in courses to prepare for a crisis. "Help yourself, otherwise no one will help you." is usually the motto of these courses. They offer instructions on what to do in the event of a long-term power outage, a flood disaster such as the one in the Aartal valley, a terrorist attack and so on. The demand for such courses is increasing nationwide (see Süddeutsche Zeitung from April 23/24, 2022 p. 10). The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance is currently promoting these courses to prepare the population for a possible emergency. They cover food supplies and water supply, first aid and fire extinguishing - to name just a few examples. The courses are very popular. Many people want to prepare themselves.
But what about solidarity training? It's better to get through a crisis together. Perhaps we should also create political education courses in cooperation or as a supplement to such offers, in which people practice acting in solidarity and together and thus surviving crises socially and politically. We already have a title: political survival training.
