#68 SOUND OF POLITICS
Have you ever wondered what politics sounds like? What sounds are associated with political places and processes? Our current idea for a political education program is to explore the "sound of politics" together with interested parties and capture it in an audio project. The whole thing could proceed as follows, for example:
A group of interested people go to places that they associate with politics under the guidance of a political educator. These could be historical meeting places, government offices or places of political engagement. During the excursion, various noises and sounds associated with politics at these locations are recorded. These could be speeches, shouts of protest, the rustling of banners, fragments of a discussion at a regulars' table or other characteristic sounds.
In a subsequent workshop setting, the collected audio snippets are viewed and selected. The participants share and discuss their personal impressions and associations with the audio recordings and thus get into conversation about political issues. Under the guidance of a sound art artist or radio producer, the participants can develop a thematic radio play that makes the "Sound of Politics" tangible for a wider audience as a radio piece, audio walk or audio installation.
