#33 Political education at the vaccination center
Anyone who has already picked up a vaccination at the vaccination center knows that after the vaccine is administered, there is a fifteen-minute waiting period to rule out an allergic reaction. For most newly vaccinated people, this is a rather boring and uneventful 15 minutes. So let's make use of this time! It could be used for political education, for example, as this is a very special situation: so many different people come together here who certainly don't often meet in this constellation and perhaps don't all regularly take part in extracurricular political education activities in their free time.
We have come up with some examples for this space, but we make no claim to be exhaustive. Perhaps you can think of other exciting ideas.
1. There could be a video box in the waiting area where people are asked to complete a given sentence. This could, for example, be something from the subject area of "vaccination" such as: "I got vaccinated because __________________". The results could be used to create a campaign that could be shown on local passenger television, for example, and give people who were previously undecided further perspectives on the vaccination of citizens in their city.
However, a completely different question could also be discussed here, such as "_________________ has politicized me" or "If I were Chancellor, I would be ____________________".
Instead of a video box, you can of course also work with posters, a photo box or sticky notes.
2. In the spirit of the hot wire, there could also be a telephone in the waiting area, which is directly connected to another telephone in a public place (marketplace, bus stop, park bench). People who are hesitant to be vaccinated (possibly due to fears, trypanophobia, etc.) can use the phone to call from the public place and talk to the people who have just been vaccinated. This hotline could also be used as a link to medical professionals.
Do you have any other suggestions for the waiting time at the vaccination center?
