Project K: Theatre and Media Studies
"Theatre of discrimination. Depiction and reflection of invective dynamics in contemporary theatre, performance and action art"
The research project examines the depiction, appearance and reflection of invectives in contemporary theatre, performance and action art from a media and cultural studies perspective. It pursues the objective to analyse the theatrical setting as an aesthetic communication model with which invective constellations and processes of interaction become identifiable affectively, perceptively and reflexively. The discriminating function of invective communication in connection with the confrontational negotiation of social positions and discursive hegemonies of interpretation can be observed, such is the leading premise of the project, according to evocation, usage and effect of theatrical invectives. A collective treatise typifies such invective dramaturgy as a mode of theatrical critique: „Verletzen und Beleidigen. Versuche einer theatralen Kritik der Herabsetzung“.
