Language skills at the start of studies
Table of contents
French
French language skills at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages are required to study French on both the teacher training course and the Bachelor's degree course.
When applying for the Bachelor 's degree program, these language skills are usually certified by the Abitur certificate, a DELF diploma or comparable certificates.
Applicants for the teacher training course must prove the required language skills as a subject-specific admission requirement by taking an aptitude test. This is a written language test that contains listening comprehension, reading comprehension and grammar tasks. No aids may be used.
Before the test, participants must identify themselves with their identity card or passport.
Three dates are offered for the language test, but these cannot be used to retake the test if you fail. The third date is reserved primarily for foreign applicants.
Applicants will receive the results of the language test immediately or shortly afterwards by post.

Admission requirements for the First State Examination French and Italian
Theadmission requirement for the First State Examination is the Latinum for French and Italian or knowledge of Latin for French at secondary school. However, the new version of the Lehramtsprüfungsordnung I (LAPO I) allows this requirement to be replaced by knowledge of two modern foreign languages, one at level C 1 (equivalent to an advanced course) and the other at level B 2 (equivalent to a basic course), which must generally be proven with the Abitur certificate. However, proof can also be provided in the foreign languages that are studied as subjects on the teacher training course.
