Study contents
The Master's programme in Slavic Studies in Dresden has two main focuses: In the first year you will deepen and broaden your knowledge of Slavic languages and cultures and acquire essential skills for independent work in linguistics, literature and cultural studies. The second year is dedicated to academic publishing, editing and presentation. In this phase you will be actively introduced to academic editing and publishing. In both years of study you will expand your practical language skills in two Slavic languages: one already known and one newly learned.
Focus on cultural studies
The Institute of Slavic Studies at TU Dresden stands for a distinguished focus on cultural studies. For us, cultural studies means: Each sub-discipline is oriented towards the depiction and conveyance of Slavic cultures as a whole.
Academic Publications
The Chairs of the Institute are co-editors of important Slavic periodicals (Zeitschrift für Slawistik, Specimina philologiae Slavicae, Bausteine zur slavischen Philologie und Kulturgeschichte, Biblia Slavica). Therefore, the introduction to academic publishing is an essential part of the Master's programme at the Institute of Slavic Studies of TU Dresden.
