About our Institute
The Institute of Slavic Studies comprises four Chairs:
- Chair of Linguistics and History of Slavic Languages
- Chair of Slavic Literatures
- Chair of Western Slavic Literatures and Cultural Studies
- Chair of Sorabistic
and two Departements:
- Russian Cultural Studies and Didactics
- Language Training (Russian, Polish, Czech, Upper Sorbian and Ukranian)
The managing director of the Institute is Prof. Dr. Holger Kusse.
The Institute has established cooperations with universities and partners in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Guest lectures held by universtity teachers from Polish, Czech, Russian and Bulgarian universities enhance the range of courses we offer.
The Dresden Institute of Slavic Studies is of particular relevance for Slavic Studies as it issues important academic journals and publications, including the Zeitschrift für Slawistik (Journal of Slavic Studies).
