Who we are - The team behind the Future Energy Lab
In January 2024, a task force was set up on the initiative of the School of Engineering Sciences and the university management to develop a forward-looking strategy concept for energy research at TU Dresden. The interdisciplinary group brings together experts from all three faculties of the department and brings together diverse perspectives from research and teaching. The task force is coordinated and supported by science manager Dr. Anja Blüher.
As part of this strategy process, the central idea arose to network the diverse competencies of individual Chairs in the field of energy technology as well as existing research infrastructures and Impulse Labs more closely. The aim is to jointly initiate new research projects, exploit synergies and drive innovation in the energy sector across locations. The Future Energy Lab is intended to serve as an open platform that promotes interdisciplinary cooperation and actively shapes the future in terms of a secure, economical and environmentally friendly energy supply.
Together, the task force team forms the foundation for the development of the Future Energy Lab - with the clear aim of combining technical excellence with societal responsibility.

Organizational structure of the Future Energy Lab
The Future Energy Lab is clearly structured and enables close cooperation between different scientific areas and external partners.
1. board level
The Lab's Executive Board is made up of representatives from TU Dresden.
-
Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
PD Dr. Stephan Schlegel and Prof. Dr. Steffen Bernet -
Thermal Energy Technology
Prof. Dr. Christiane Thomas and Prof. Dr. Clemens Felsmann -
Computer Science / Big Data
Prof. Dr. Uwe Aßmann and Prof. Dr. Pascal Kerschke
2. advisory board
The Advisory Board supports the Lab in an advisory capacity and brings in perspectives from business, politics, society and science. It ensures a close connection to current social developments and promotes the transfer of knowledge beyond TU Dresden.
3rd Coordinator
As coordinator of the Future Energy Lab, Dr. Anja Blüher is the central point of contact for organizational issues and is involved in the strategic development of the initiative. She supports the operational implementation and contributes to internal and external communication.

4. project management level
The individual research projects , which are thematically and organizationally integrated into the Lab, are located below the Executive Board level. The project managers are responsible for implementing the content and work closely with the coordinator and the Executive Board.
5 Interfaces with the university
The Future Energy Lab is directly connected to the University Executive Board and TU Dresden's research funding department via defined interfaces. This close connection enables strategic coordination, resource planning and support in a targeted manner in the implementation of research projects.
