Range-IT
Abstract
Project Range-IT aims at the improvement of blind people's safety while navigating inside buildings by a wearable obstacle recognition system. The system consists of a novel time-of-flight camera and a tactile belt. Main requirement is the detection of remote objects (such as stairs and doors) by procesing point clouds while moving with the white cane. We designed a multimodal non-visual user interface, to inform the blind pedestrian about the context.
