ACHEMA excursion

Exhibition:

The ACHEMA (www.achema.de) is the world biggest exhibition for chemical engineering, process technology, biotechnology and environmental technology. It takes place every three years in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) and gathered more than 3500 companies from over 50 countries as well as much more than 100 000 visitors. The regular date of ACHEMA was in June 2021, but due to COVID-19-pandemic it had to be postponed to 22^nd - 26^th August this year. The exhibition attracts business men, engineers and scientists, but also offers a diverse programme for students - including platforms to meet potential future employers or to explore job opportunities. Last but not least, there is an immediate benefit for all students that stroll around the halls, view apparatuses and process demonstrators or talk to booth personnel.

Excursion:

The Institute of Process Technology and Environmental Technology organises a day trip to ACHEM on Thursday, the 25^th August. We start early in the morning, go by coach to Frankfurt and return in the late evening. The visit of the exhibition can be organised individually. We are going to prepare a short guided tour (ca. 1.5h) over the exhibition to selected companies. The excursion is partly sponsored by the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering so that students should only pay an amount of approx. 10 Euro.
In order to plan the day trip we ask at first for an expression of intent and later (in July) for an commited enrolment via OPAL-Kurs "Exkursionen zur Verfahrenstechnik und Naturstofftechnik".

What else:

On 25^th August, i.e. the day of ACHEMA excursion, ACHEMA conducts a special event for students Studenten - Career Forum - which provides lots of detailed information on student jobs, internships and career chances in process industry. In addition, the exhibition also executes a scientific-technical programme, which addresses new trends and specific developments. On the day of ACHEMA excursion, the programme will focus on all aspects of digitalisation in process industry.

Recommendation:

Most students only have one chance to visit ACHEMA in the couse of their study. The assistants and PhD students of our institute recommend to jump at this chance; it will be an impressive and worthwhile experience, which by accidence promotes the team spirit between the students. We also appreciate independent and self-organised ACHEMA visits, maybe even for multiple days. In this event, you should early book your accommodation, organise your tickets etc..
