Award for excellent research: ILK graduate Dipl.-Ing. Leon Schröder wins Johann Andreas Schubert Prize
On 5th August 2024, ILK graduate and employee Dipl.-Ing. Leon Schröder was awarded the prestigious Johann Andreas Schubert Prize at a ceremony at SCHERDEL GmbH in Marienberg. In the presence of the Prime Minister of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, and the employer president, Dr. Jörg Brückner, his diploma thesis was honored for its particular practical relevance.
In the category "outstanding diploma theses", Mr. Schröder impressed the jury with his thesis on "Development of a shaft-hub connection for fast rotating centrifugal compressor impellers made of fiber reinforced plastics", which was created as part of an industrial project. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Maik Gude, Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Spitzer and with the support of Dipl.-Ing. Michael Schiffner, he made an important contribution to the further development of high-performance structures made of fiber-plastic composites. His innovative approaches to joining technology have the potential to open up new possibilities for practical applications in industry.
The Johann Andreas Schubert Prize is awarded every two years together with the Saxony Metal and Electrical Industry Association (SACHSENMETALL) and honors dissertations, diploma and master's theses that make a significant contribution to the progress of the industry. The award-winning theses are exemplary for the successful combination of scientific excellence and practical relevance in the Saxon industry.
