The construction industry is facing upheavals that are characterised by increased time and cost pressure as well as a shortage of skilled workers. The additive manufacturing of massive building structures, concrete 3D printing, is one of the forward-looking technologies to counteract this circumstance. The concrete 3D printing process means that a print head for concrete is controlled with positional accuracy according to CAD planning data and taking into account parameters from the simulation process (timing), static calculations (FEM software) and the environmental conditions as well as the material parameters. The concrete walls are produced by extrusion of the concrete from the pressure head in layers. In the area of print heads, no commercial products for the production of large-format components are yet available on the market. The further development of the laboratory solution produced by the partners into a product suitable for construction sites is to be the objective of the present project. In order to achieve efficient conveying processes in the print head that are suitable for the material, numerical simulation of the concrete conveying processes is used in addition to the classic methods of mechanical engineering.
