School and Science Project of Manos-Gymnasium at the chair of Processing Technology and Processing Machinery
As part of the science project week of the in-depth science education program at Martin-Andersen-Nexö (MANOS) High School, we were pleased to welcome two students to the Chair of Processing Machines/Processing Technology. With the aim of peeking into the scientific way of working, the young scientists had the task to develop a mechanism for transporting chocolate bars in a processing machine.
Starting with a state of the art research of existing mechanisms, the selection and design of the gearbox (gearbox synthesis) and the construction of a functional model, the students were able to get to know the scientific approach and the daily research routine at the TU Dresden. In the end, the developed mechanism was 3D printed in the Makerspace of the SLUB and assembled to a functional model.
After an exciting week at the TU Dresden, the task was to create a poster on the topic and present it at an official poster presentation at the HTW Dresden. There was great enthusiasm from the audience and the audience award was missed by only a few votes.
We would like to thank the young scientists for their great cooperation and hope to see them again soon as students or researchers at the TU Dresden.
