Senior Professorship Bioengineering
Bioprocess Engineering is recognized as a bridge between basic research in molecular biology and microbiology and the realization of biotechnological processes in an industrial scale. The use of natural resources (White Biotechnology) is in the focus of our interest. The application of rapid biomonitoring methods (Flow Cytometry, Magnetic Separation in combination with imaging methods, Biosensors) allows to gather valuable and immediate information on cell factories. On the basis of this information metabolic models and process models are utilized to describe and forecast biotechnological processes and therefore facilitate their up-scaling.
