Process technology for white biotechnology: Transfer of biotechnical syntheses to industrial applications
Project intention:
With the project „Process technology for White Biotechnology: transfer of biotechnical syntheses to industrial applications” developed biotechnical processes of the four participating research institutes of the TU Dresden and HTW Dresden shall be transferred directly to interested companies. Therefore, comprehensive public relations have to be performed, to inform leaderships and specialists of regional and national companies about modern possibilities of biotechnology and bioprocess technology. In parallel a Transportable Bioreactor will be developed to perform on-site demonstrations (TU Dresden, Institute for Food Technology and Bioprocess Technology, Professorship Bioprocess Technology). Public relation will be followed by training courses to deepen practical and theoretical knowledge about biotechnical processes by three specific examples.
These are:
- Synthesis of microbial exoenzymes as food additives with technofunctional properties (TU Dresden, Institute for Food Technology and Bioprocess Technology, Professorship Food Technology)
- Synthesis of technical enzymes for productive modification of lignocelluloses (TU Dresden, Institute for Wood and Paper Technology, Professorship Wood and Fibre Materials Technology)
- Synthesis of secondary metabolites by plant cells in bioreactors (HTW Dresden, Professorship Technical Biochemistry/Bioprocess Technology)
In particular, the sustainable intention of the project to realize the requirements of the partnering companies and to develop and patent for them innovative specialized biotechnical processes. Furthermore, there will be the obviously chance to constitute new working positions in small and medium sized enterprises of south eastern Germany for graduates of biotechnological degree programmes.
