Sub-Saharan Africa
TU Dresden is present in all four regions of sub-Saharan Africa with a variety of research projects and activities. These include Ghana and Burkina Faso in West Africa, Cameroon and Angola in Central Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia in East Africa, as well as South Africa and Namibia in Southern Africa. These collaborations at faculty level primarily include hydrosciences, forestry, economics, architecture, biology, chemistry, medicine, and computer science.
These broad and diverse research activities build the basis for a TUD-wide Africa strategy. In order to increase impact and to advance the SDG topics, relevant networks and organizations will be addressed, too.
Within this framework, Stellenbosch University is an important partner for TUD as this collaboration helps to become more visible in the region and to open up new network fields.
