The Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections' Exhibitions
The Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections' exhibition work is multifaceted:
The permanent exhibition at the Office for Academic Heritage on Zellescher Weg showcases a cross-section of the collections from science and technology, as well as documents and objects on the history of the University.
Changing special exhibitions are regularly presented at the Gallery in the Görges Building (formerly known as Altana Gallery), including various innovative communication formats. Enduring new correlations of meaning and dependence are created in joint presentations of historical and scientific exhibits together with artistic works. Through various communication formats, such as lecture series, discussions with artists or tours, the close connection between art and science becomes accessible to a public interested in both science history and art history.
Taking the positive experiences from the artistic and scientific partnerships over the prior years as a basis, the Art Science Labs format was established at the Office for Academic Heritage in 2018. Here, artists and scientists work on specific research questions covering a range of topics, such as novel materials (smart materials), artificial intelligence and many other current and future aspects. These projects regularly culminate in shared exhibitions at the Gallery of the Office for Academic Heritage.
The Office for Academic Heritage is closely networked within the university landscape, as indeed with the museums of Dresden, the state capital of the Federal and Free State of Saxony, the Dresden University of Fine Arts (HfBK), and various independent art spaces in the city.
