Feierliche Enthüllung des von Johannes Heisig gemalten Rektorenporträts von Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen im Dülfer-Saal der TU Dresden am 14. Juli 2020
On Friday, 14th July 2020, the farewell ceremony for the retiring rector of the TU Dresden Professor Hans Müller-Steinhagen took place. During the ceremony, the portrait of the rector, created by the renowned painter Johannes Heisig, was unveiled.
Johannes Heisig, who himself was Rector of the Dresden Academy for Fine Arts in the late 1980s, is highly experienced in portraying, as the portrait is one of his most important sujets. He has portrayed Willy Brandt, Inge Deutschkron, Egon Bahr, Johannes Rau, Volker Braun and others.
The tradition of portraits of rectors and professors dates back to the early years of the TU Dresden in 1828. These paintings are being preserved by the Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections of TU Dresden. Heisig's portrait of Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen will also be included in this collection.
