Project "Data for action for preschool children (KitaGesund)"

The project "Data for action for preschool children (KitaGesund)" is a cooperation project of the Institute and Polyclinic for Occupational and social medicine (IPAS) of the TU Dresden and the health authorities of several Berlin districts as well as the cities of Potsdam and Dresden. The overall project is managed by IPAS (Prof. Dr. Andreas Seidler, MPH).

The project is primarily intended to benefit the health of children and young people in Germany (especially socially disadvantaged children) by developing concrete prevention and health promotion measures through the availability of more meaningful data and establishing them in the daycare setting. In addition, the data situation as well as the possibilities for high-quality evaluations of the public health service (ÖGD) are significantly improved. In the project, a long-term cooperation between ÖGD and university public health research is established.

The overall project consists of two sub-studies:
Substudy I: Longitudinal linking of ÖGD routine data in childhood in Berlin, Potsdam and Dresden, expanded by a parent survey.
Substudy II: Intervention study in Dresden (pilot testing of preventive measures)

The two sub-studies - to ensure exchange and close networking between the project regions as well as to make important interim results usable for the other project location - are supplemented by two joint workshops of the project locations on the topics of data linking, networking and deriving preventive recommendations from the project results.
