Introduction to the physics of active soft matter | |
Modul: | Phy-Ma-Vert: Physikalische Vertiefung |
Lecture language | English |
Summary of Lecture: | Molecular motors, bacterial colonies and bird flocks are prime examples of active matter. What distinguishes active from passive matter is that the constituting elements of active matter consume energy in order to self-propel or apply forces. The following topics will be considered in this course: -Theoretical and numerical approaches to Active matter -Applications to elastic behavior of active gels and active Brownian particles -Fundamentals of non-equilibrium phase transitions in active matter with applications. |
