Please note that you should assign coursework to either the core thematic areas or the fundemental psychological subjects. If something is listed twice, it will only be recognized the first time. If your coursework cannot be clearly assigned to the core areas or the fundemental subjects, you can use the following rough assignment as a guide:
- The fundemental psychological subjects relate to your previous knowledge in the field of psychology. In this area, your academic achievements in relation to the subject of psychology are examined rather closely.
- The core thematic areas relate to your previous knowledge in various disciplines of the HPSTS Master's program. This is a rather broad examination of your academic achievements in relation to the various modules of the Master's program in HPSTS.
For the recognition of modules, please enclose meaningful module descriptions. As a general rule, the more meaningful they are in terms of content and qualifications acquired, the better. The following applies to foreign module descriptions: If the language of the module description is not already German or English, a certified translation into German or English must be enclosed with the application. If no module descriptions exist, please have this confirmed by a letter from the university. For theses, please enclose a more detailed description of the content so that recognition is possible.
Applicants who have obtained their Bachelor's degree in Psychology at TU Dresden do not need to submit module descriptions.
The Faculty Student Council provides an example to help you fill in the appendices 1 Core Thematic Areas and 2 Fundemental Psychological Subjects, which you can use as a guide.
If the scope of the coursework is only available in semester hours per week (SWS), convert these into ECTS. 2 SWS are equivalent to 3 ECTS.
2.2 Proof of Language Proficiency at Level B2
The admission requirement is English language proficiency at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Please submit your most recent certificate. A simple copy of the certificate is sufficient. 5. Ranking of Suitable Applications (Selection Procedure)
In accordance with the selection regulations, the available places are allocated on the basis of the documents submitted. The overall grade of the first professionally qualifying degree certificate, the academic achievements in the thematic core areas and the academic achievements in the basic psychological subjects are assessed.
- The overall grade of the first professional qualification certificate or the provisional final grade is assessed according to the following principle:
Grade 1.0 = 40 points,
Grade 1.1 to 1.2 = 36 points,
Grade 1.3 to 1.4 = 32 points,
Grade 1.5 to 1.6 = 28 points,
Grade 1.7 to 1.8 = 24 points,
Grade 1.9 to 2.0 = 20 points,
Grade 2.1 to 2.2 = 16 points,
Grade 2.3 to 2.4 = 12 points,
Grade 2.5 to 2.6 = 8 points,
Grade 2.7 to 2.8 = 4 points,
Grade ≥ 2.9 = 0 points - 0.6 points are awarded for each ECTS credit point earned in the core thematic areas. A maximum of 30 points can be awarded.
- 0.6 points are awarded for each ECTS credit point earned in the fundemental psychological subjects. A maximum of 30 points can be awarded.
A maximum of 100 points can be achieved in total. The total number of points forms the basis for the ranking list. In the event of equal rankings, applicants with better language skills are given preference. If this does not lead to a clear ranking, the decision is made by drawing lots.
You can find out about the threshold values from previous years here.
