The Media Centre as a research institute
Our research is carried out as part of third-party funded projects, supported by various funding agencies. In cooperation with regional, national and international partners, we work theory-based and application-oriented.

Current Projects from A to Z
Our research fields and activities are based on the defined goals of the respective projects. We are currently working on the following projects:
- Ausbilderakademie.digital: In cooperation with the Dresden Chamber of Trades and Crafts, innovative support and learning offers are created via smartphone app to support training supervisors.
- DiBBLoK: The Media Centre is responsible for carrying out a questionnaire study that seeks insights into cooperations in digital learning locations and their diffusion in vocational training.
- Digitale Hochschulbildung in Sachsen: Promoting the continued development of digitally supported higher education in Saxony through support offers in the area of digital tools and digital methods as well as through a fellow program.
- DiKoLA - digital competence of teachers in teacher training courses: Developing a competence framework for media education in teacher training courses, for its systematic anchoring in teacher training.
- DOmIcILE-VR: A digital learning environment including a VR scenario is developed as an educational offer in the real estate industry, incl. the simulation and training of an apartment handover.
- E.F.A.: Serious games on the subject of occupational health and safety in the social service sector. Players become experts in occupational safety called E.F.A according to its German title "Experte für Arbeitsschutz".
- FRACTION - Developing future-oriented academic curricula in Teacher Education with innovative methodologies for Nex-Gen Asian HEIs: The Media Centre designs a curriculum for a one-year training program set up for teachers/lecturers of institutions of higher education. It will be implemented in 2021.
- HistStadt4D: Historical photos, context information and urban development over time are displayed in a 3D model and made available using a 4D browser.
- in Medias Res: Developing an online-cours in the learning management system OPAL to strengthen the media literacy of teachers.
- LOS - Learning Experience in OPAL through game elements : Developing Playful OPAL in order to demonstrate game mechanics and elements in the learning management system OPAL and to strengthen the learning experience and the learners’ journey in OPAL.
- Study Assistance System (SAS) : Development of a gamified digital Study assistance system in the learning management system OPAL for the first terms in STEM courses as well as in teacher training courses.
- OLGA: Optimization of land use near stretches of water and on agricultural land for the sustainable development of the Dresden region, based on hydrological, economic, forestry and environmental psychology research and implementation work: Research to promote and evaluate participation and citizen science to consolidate a solution approach for implementing the EC WFD.
- OSA 3.0: Development of an online test for prospective students of engineering sciences to support their decision to study.
- ReGerecht: Developing and testing approaches to solving land use conflicts, involving urban, suburban and rural area stakeholders.
- Flexible design of degree programmes (SFG): Development and testing of solution approaches for the flexible design of degree programmes at the level of individual courses but also of the entire degree programme, for example by using digital media.
- Urban nature supports mental well-being - Effects and mechanisms of action (STUPS): Improvement of mental health through urban nature-meta-analysis and review on effects and mechanisms of action.

- tech4comp - Personalized competence development through scalable mentoring processes: Developing a digital mentoring workbench that provides recommendations on individualized intervention and support options in the teaching-learning process.
- UndiMeS - Teaching with digital media in Saxony: To promote and strengthen the media literacy of teachers by developing an online self-learning course, which gives teachers the opportunity for individual learning designed as in-service training.
- VOM_Handel: Promoting and strengthening media literacy within the training and further education curriculum of the German trade association and concept development for its sustainable implementation.
- weiter.digital: Strengthening further training options in SMEs through the development of digitally supported learning tools that are designed for use at work.
