Overview of available hardship support options for students
Over the last few months, the cost of energy, food prices and the cost of living in general have risen sharply. Despite various relief measures, such as the BAföG increase or the raised basic tax-free allowance, the current burdens are crippling, especially for students.
We would like to give you, dear students, an overview of available hardship support options if you are currently in need of financial assistance or a counseling service:
- The Student Council provides information on relief measures for students regarding energy and heating costs, the BAföG increase, the basic tax-free allowance, the mini-job limit, the lump sum for deductible professional expenses, and the developments concerning the Deutschland-Ticket and child benefits. In addition, the Student Council offers a wide range of advisory services by students for students, such as advice on hardship applications for students in financial distress.
- Studentenwerk Dresden offers a social counseling service that advises students in financial hardship situations during their education; including the option to apply for financial aid for students in financial hardship.
- At TU Dresden, the Association of Friends and Sponsors of TU Dresden supports students in financial distress if no other help is available.
- Students with family responsibilities can contact the Campus Office Uni mit Kind for help with financial issues such as parental benefits, child benefits, alimony or unemployment benefits (ALG II).
Financial distress often triggers high emotional and psychological stress. In this case, you’ll find support at TU Dresden’s Central Student Information and Counseling Service and at the Psychosocial Counseling Office of the Studentenwerk.
The TU Dresden website provides an overview of all advisory and service facilities as well as funding and financing options for your studies.
