Admission requirements
To be admitted to the degree program, applicants must have completed a general university entrance qualification (Abitur) or a comparable university entrance qualification.

Information regarding Studienkolleg
Applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification that does not grant them direct access to university education in Germany pursuant to the qualification comparability regulations of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs must attend a Preparatory College (Studienkolleg) prior to studying. This degree program relates to the following specialized course at the Studienkolleg:
T-course
(Applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification that does not grant them direct access to university education in Germany pursuant to the qualification comparability regulations of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) must attend a preparatory college prior to studying. This will equip applicants with a subject-specific university entrance qualification. You can find further information on the degree course preparation website.

Notes on the application process
This degree program participates in the Dialogorientiertes Serviceverfahren (DoSV) – an initiative organized to aid communication between universities and applicants in cases where prospective students apply for multiple degree programs at multiple universities. This means that applicants from Germany and the rest of the EU must have an applicant ID (BID) and an authentication number (BAN) issued to them from Hochschulstart prior to submitting their application to TU Dresden.
This degree program is being reintroduced. Applications and enrollment are possible in the 2024/2025 winter semester for the 1st through 5th semesters of study and in the subsequent 2025 summer semester for the 2nd through 6th semesters of study.
General information about the degree program
The Biomedical Engineering degree program imparts the essential engineering expertise and skills required in the field of biomedical engineering. In the elective compulsory modules, students can also gain in-depth knowledge and skills in specialist fields of medicine, medical technology, biophysics and health economics.
The degree program draws on basics of engineering in the fields of electrical and computer engineering combined with basic medical and biophysical principles. Students will gain knowledge and skills in all areas of modern medical treatment, spanning a wide range of clinical areas.
Graduates are qualified for employment in various sectors of the biomedical engineering industry as well as medical technology research and may work as clinical engineers. They will also have a high level of general education and are thus equipped to fulfill their economic, ethical and environmental responsibilities in this field. Pertinent topics and current developments are integrated into the degree program as an integral part of professional training.
