General information about the degree program
The study of hydrosciences will impart the natural scientific and technical knowledge as well as the practical experience to work in the fields of investigation, exploitation, distribution and purification of water. That includes the description of fluxes of water and matter and the determination of physical, chemical, and biological components and processes within hydrosystems. In the domain of engineering science the technical mastering of water procurement, water use, water and waste water treatment is the main focus.
Study contents
The students will acquire general and advanced knowledge and skills to identify and describe hydro scientific problems, to analyse them using scientific approaches, and to independently develop interdisciplinary strategies.
During the basic course the natural scientific skills are deepened and the basic principles for hydrosciences are given.
Starting with the 3rd semester the students will specialize in one of the following directions: water management, hydrology, or material flux management.
Water management:
conception, construction and operation of technical systems to collect, store and distribute water
Hydrology:
analysis of water resources of different landscapes and climates, quantification of components of the water household in order of a sustainable use
Material flux management:
analysis of the impact of resources and contaminants and the evaluation of their ecologic and economic relevance
For the individual qualification of the students a wide amount of compulsory modules is provided. The bachelor thesis completes the bachelor progamme.
